Brittanny's family would like to thank everyone for their support, letter and petitions. With everyones help we were successful for blocking his parole in December 09. Brittany and this case will not be forgotten.

Seven years will be coming upon us too soon and we will need your suport again.

I don't remember an anniversary  #16  of Brittany's murder feeling the way I did today . I  starting the day at the crime survivors walk doing something to honor my daughter . I was surprised when Todd announced our story then I was asked to release a dove. I got to do this with my kids it was healing for us.  I then was off to Ontario Mills. When I got there and witnessed  all the support from everyone telling  our story to strangers. Then watching my four children jump in to get more pages signed, filled  my heavy heart.  Then to rose hills for my time and pink roses. I know today made a difference in my goal to keep Chuck in prison.

The dreaded day has arrived.  We are going to have to face the murderer of my 3-½ old daughter, Brittany Lynn Rethorn-Riggs, at a parole hearing.  In October 1993 Brittany was home asleep with her mom and dad in the next room. We woke to a noise that I now know was Chuck Johnson killing her in the next room. We open our home to this man in his time of need. Johnson was separated from his wife and his two children. We had no knowledge of his violent past of spousal abuse. We latter found out he was put on conditional release and ordered to classes that he never attended. A bench warrant was issued weeks before he killed Brittany with his bare hands while we were in the next room asleep. Brittany had no chance at life because he strangled and suffocated  her.
  
For this heinous and brutal crime a jury of his peers and the court sentenced Chuck Johnson to 25 years to life in prison.  Now just 16 years later, Johnson is preparing to appear before the Board of Parole Hearings to seek parole.  There is NO PAROLE for our family.  Johnson’s callous disregard for innocent human life has denied Brittany, my only child at the time, her rightful place in our family and in the world.  
 
We are asking for your help.  Please send a letter to the Board of Parole Hearings, in care of Office of Victim and Survivor Rights and Services   PO BOX 942883 Sacramento CA 94283-0001 urging that parole be denied to Chuck Johnson.  Letters must reach the Board of Parole by November 15, 2009.  We would greatly appreciate you sending a copy of your letter to us for our records.  Your help is sincerely appreciated.
